Dr. Md. Sabur Khan Reflects on Philanthropy and Leadership at Albukhary International University (AIU) in Malaysia
During his conversations with the students, Dr. Khan learned that many were not yet fully familiar with the philanthropic vision behind their scholarships. This prompted him to reflect on the work of AIU’s founder, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary, whose philanthropic initiatives place a strong emphasis on compassion, education, and service to society.
The experience also reminded Dr. Khan that gratitude to Allah (SWT) can be expressed through meaningful actions that help others access education and build better futures. He also reflected on Professor Muhammad Yunus’s appointment as the university’s inaugural Chancellor, highlighting the importance of leadership that serves a clear purpose and contributes to society.
Dr. Khan encouraged young people to understand the generosity and vision behind the opportunities they receive, make the most of their education, and eventually extend similar opportunities to others.
Reflecting on the visit, he noted that while he had arrived to share his thoughts, the experience had also offered valuable lessons of his own. The interaction further strengthened his perspective on the connection between education, philanthropy, and lasting social impact.
